Your Guide to Self-Advocacy
Your Guide to Self-Advocacy is a self-paced, online course for high school students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or a 504 Plan with a goal toward independent living. The course includes Closed Captions and is fully accessible in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The student needs a 4th grade reading proficiency.
The online course leads the student on a path of self-exploration to define needs then articulate those preferences by being a strong self-advocate.
There are seven units in “Your Guide to Self-Advocacy” with an activity at the end of each unit. These activities are designed to help the student become an effective self-advocate and includes; role-playing, journaling, and guided research to name a few.
