Welcome to OLIDA Learning
OLIDA Learning is a labor of love. Our team is a family, and the special needs members of our families are striving to lead rich, meaningful lives.
As our children become adults, they face many obstacles in higher education, career development, employment, and as active members of the community. They search not only for acceptance but also opportunities to lead fulfilling lives.
Our online courses arise from our recognition that we need to provide our loved ones with tools to support their goal of independent living. Some of these tools include; self-advocacy, the ability to navigate institutions of higher education, and locating community resources for support.
Each interactive course is self-paced and student-centered to provide a quality learning experience. The courses are targeted toward teens and young adults with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or a 504 Plan. Multimedia course materials are narrated, include closed captions, definitions and a variety of subject resources.
Our courses can be viewed as online textbooks or as extensions of a teacher’s toolkit, sparking classroom discussions or enriching the learning of students who are enrolled in a more formal co-curricular program.
Mission
Our mission is to create engaging online learning courses to support educational and personal growth for teens and young adults with disabilities. Our goal is to develop fully accessible, self-paced courses that enhance life-long learning for students, 12 yrs. old – young adults with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or a 504 Plan.
Vision
A society that sheds the labels for individuals with disabilities and offers opportunities to succeed through equal access; closing the gap between ability and achievement.
